Full Sun Farm

What's happening on the farm right now?

Things are looking sharp around here! It seems like every tree and shrub is mulched, all the tools are organized, labeled and put away, drip lines are up and sorted or on the beds. The greenhouse is filling up with tomato, eggplant and pepper starts. Lettuces and kales are planted. Beets and carrots are sown. Onions and potatoes are just about ready to be planted and, huge miracle, the beds are made up and ready for them.
The strawberries made it through those long cold nights last week with minimal damage and are looking good. The photo above shows a bunch of different stages of bloom. The brown flower on the black fabric got killed by the cold. We've got developing strawberries on the left, strawberries flowers waiting to be pollinated in the middle and towards the back on the right are flowers that have been pollinated and will soon loose their baby fuzz and become a juicy delicious strawberry.

The row cover (below) sure isn't pretty and it is not fun to handle or weigh down or move around but it does an amazing job keeping the plants and blooms just that much warmer. I don't think we'd be able to grow successful strawberries with it!
This is the last day to pre-order vegetable and plant starts for your summer gardens. These are big healthy plants that will take off in your gardens and give you an abundance of delicious veggies and blooms!
Alex went to the North Asheville Tailgate Market last week end with our first tulips and ranunculus! We'll be there again this Saturday 10am until 1pm with more tulips, ranunculus, anemones and some mixed bouquets. The snapdragons are starting too. So sweet!
And last but not least:

CSA market and flower shares are available for the 2023 season.

When you sign up, you get a great discount on all our produce, flowers and fruit, the larger the share, the larger the discount. The early money we receive from our CSA members really helps us get through these lean months of the early spring. We are paying everyone and buying supplies and soil amendments well before we start market so each share really makes a difference. We really appreciate your support!

Thank you for reading.
Your farmers, Vanessa and Alex
