Full Sun Farm

What's happening on the farm right now?

Lots of good things. We have already sown our second round of lettuce and lettuce mix. Radishes and turnip seeds were tucked in beds in one of the high tunnels and our first anemones are blooming.

Flowering trees are getting mulched, the cat tunnels are being resurrected, getting ready for those first rounds of lettuce and lettuce mix. The kale and onions that we have sown are looking happy in the greenhouse. And our first round of tomato seeds is up as well.

What's not happening on the farm right now??? Well, I have had technical difficulties in switching over our online store and have found that we can NOT use the CSA market share card on our website after all. I am so sorry for the confusion. When you purchase a share this year it will be the same as the previous three years. Your credit will go into your wallet and we will send you a coupon code for your CSA discount to use as you check out.

I hate to admit defeat but I spent many hours trying to make this work and while it seems like what we do with the boxes and ordering and the credit and the pickup sites is simple, it is not, at least in the online world! I am very appreciative to our tech wizard CSA member Amie Tracie who had set up our site and that it works so well!

That said, I do have a bunch of square gift cards now, so if you would like to give one as a gift to a friend or plan on making purchases ONLY at our farmers market stands, send us an email and we can pre-load one for you and send it out.

I apologize for any confusion and let me know if you have any questions.

Clearing out the peony patch

We are pleased to welcome Tay to the farm this week (on the left in the picture above). Tay has a good amount of experience, having worked on farms in New York, California and up in Celo. He has hit the ground running here, taking over the watering in the greenhouse with smooth assurance and we are looking forward to working with him over the rest of the season. Welcome Tay!
And as a reminder: Our Pre-Order Plant Sale is now live on our website and runs through March 21. Reserve your plants and make sure you aren’t disappointed!
Pre-order is available only for our tried and true summer seedling starts. This includes tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, eggplant, summer squash, basil, culinary herbs, and flowers.
Pick up days are Saturday, April 29th and Wednesday, May 3th. These dates are just little before our last frost date, but I know we are all anxious to get our gardens going. Just be prepared to cover your plant babies if a frost is in the forecast.
Pick locations are, on Saturday, the North Asheville Tailgate Market, 8am until 12 and at the farm, 9am until dusk. On Wednesday, pick locations are the River Arts District Farmers Market 3-6pm and at the farm from 9am until dusk. You can choose your pick up location when you check out.
Our regular selection of spring plant starts (kales, lettuces etc) will be available for sale on our website once the tailgate markets open for the season, April 1st, and aren’t available for pre-order at this time. Like last year, we'll be offering the full range of our seedlings on our online store and bringing only a limited selection for in person shopping at the tailgate markets.
Happy garden dreaming!

I love these old fashioned "scambled eggs" daffodils. They are a very old heirloom variety and were likely planted around the original house here that burned 80 plus years ago. They come up on the bank below our house amongst pieces of old brick from that house.

Thank you for reading.
