What's happening on the farm right now:
|
Our pre-order plant sale is open for a few more days, through Sunday March 24. Please get your veggie and flower start orders in before then to make sure you get your favorite varieties. We do a great job growing strong healthy starts, using only a locally produced soil mix, sunshine and water. No chemicals or even additional fertilizers. They are ready to go in your garden and start growing!

If you were to visit the farm today, it might look like we are working away on our to do list. Tay is stepping up tomatoes in the greenhouse. Alex is preparing for a cement slab-pouring project. I'm writing the newsletter and making a crop map, figuring out which crops are going where and when. But what we are really doing is waiting for the fields to dry out! They were almost ready last Thursday evening when the rains came on Friday and set us back. Once they are dry enough, we can do what we REALLY want to be doing, planting kale and sowing beets and carrots.

Meanwhile, the flowers and veggies that we do have in the ground are growing well. The strawberries are flowering like crazy so, fingers crossed, we are going to have another bountiful strawberry year. The onions haven't looked this good in March since I don't know when. The tulips are little behind last year in blooming but overall look stronger than even, so we're looking forward to really vibrant blooms in a few weeks. No sure we are going to make it in time for this year's early Easter though. I will keep you posted on that one!
