News from the farm...
|
Hello! What a rain we had on Sunday night! These storms clouds over our high tunnel look ominous and they were just the tail end of the storm. It gave way to a beautiful blustery day out here yesterday. The fields were too wet to even walk in so we spent the day in the greenhouse doing sowings and stepping up more peppers, eggplant, tomatoes and flowers. We will be in there every week sowing or transplanting something so we can be (almost) sure to have continuous supply of crops like lettuce, lettuce mix, squash and cucumbers. We are already on our 6th sowing of lettuce and lettuce mix which should be ready for you at the end of June. We've actually been enjoying having our daughters at home during this time. They are, at times, great helpers. It's nice to have a family walk down to the fields with the girls & dogs running around, on our way to cover the strawberries & summer squash to protect them from frost. Below is a picture of some little bare feet leaving prints in the mud.

What's Available This Week
|
The ranunculus are over the top right now. We have lots of those to brighten your home. Also ready are the red butter lettuce, romaine, red leaf and little gem (baby bibb) lettuce; lettuce mix, spring onions, yellow and red, leeks, plenty of beautiful mixed bouquets and tulips. The field grown kale, rainbow chard and spinach are growing well and we hope to have a lot of those crops in the next 5-7days. We also have basil, tomato, cucumber and squash plants available for those who want to get an early start on their gardens

A note on Ordering and Pick up Days
|
For Saturday pick up: place orders on Wednesday and Thursday;
|
|
For Wednesday pick up, place your orders Sunday and Monday.
|
|
The on line farm store will be "closed" for veggie and flower orders on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
|
|
This schedule helps us to predict and manage our availability and gives us time to harvest and pack your orders. Oh, and do some farming in between times!
